Electric bike cleaning is learned

Riding is a lot of fun, especially on an electric bike, but whether you'll clean up a muddy road or a puddle after a day of splashing is a question. With our clean e-bike guide, no matter how dirty an e-bike is, it will be a breeze.

What does it take to clean an e-bike?

You don't need any expensive materials. All you need is a bucket of water, a few brushes, degreaser and chain lube. This is great and useful if you have a bike stand and hose to use, but it doesn't matter if you don't, just carefully lean the bike against the wall. At least for the first few times, it's a good idea to keep your electric bike's owner's manual handy until you get the hang of it.

Clean your e-bike in just 3 steps

Step 1: Remove batteries and electronics

Batteries should be kept out of water as much as possible, and clean electric bikes are no exception. When you get into the details, remove the battery and place it on the side. You should also remove the computer display, but if that is not possible, cover it with plastic wrap or a small plastic bag to keep it dry.

Step 2: Start scrubbing

Start cleaning with water, using a hose or kettle to pour water over the entire bike. Keep an eye on your water consumption - it's best to use a nozzle to flush is most efficient, and remember to turn off the tap between flushes. But please do not use a pressure washer: it will damage the bearing and remove all the important grease on the hidden parts.

Tip: Don't worry too much if there is water in the battery room: there are small drains to solve the problem, and there is an anti-corrosion coating on the plug.

Step 3: Use a sponge or brush to remove dirt from the frame, wheels and pedals. Make sure you are right under the bottom bracket (where the motor is), as that's where a lot of dirt collects.Degreasing and cleaning the transmission system.

The most important part of cleaning an e-bike is being able to do it. You need to use degreaser on the chain, gear disc, flywheel, and rear chain lifter to keep the bike running smoothly. Be careful not to let anything touch any braking surfaces. This is the key to ensuring that moving parts remain smooth.

After applying the degreaser, wait a few minutes, then wipe off the excess liquid with a damp cloth.

Just like that, your beloved electric car is clean and we are glad to help you with our guide.
